Approach

Three things we hold to

Place

The site decides first.

Light, slope, neighbours and the street are measured before a single line is drawn. The building answers what is already there.

Change

Built to be adapted.

Generous floor heights and open structures let a flat become an office, or a warehouse become homes, without tearing anything down.

Material

Honest and few.

Concrete, timber, brick and lime. Materials that age well, repair easily and look better at forty than on opening day.

Studio

Founded by Eva Kessler in 1994. Today 24 architects work from a former print shop in Zürich-West, on projects from a single house to a school for 600 children.
